Discount a Quote

Modified on Thu, 22 Jun, 2023 at 10:59 AM

Sometimes you might want to offer your client a discount on a Quote. Discounts can be percentage based (10% off), or you can enter a required total, which will calculate the discount for you. When you apply the discount to a Quote, all discountable services will be adjusted to match the required total or percentage discount.

Discountable services (indicated with a Green 'D' on each line item on the Quote) can be toggled between discountable to non-discountable. Any line items including non-discountable Services (with a Red 'D'), will not be changed by any discount. Certain items may be locked as non-discountable in the Rate Card.

Please Note: This method changes the Unit Price and the Total, so if your client needs to see the Services original rate, select Show Rate Card from the print options when creating a PDF.

You can either discount a single line item, a section of the Quote, or the entire Quote, or add a One-Time Discount row to enter a negative value line item to reduce the total. Please find each method below:

Discount a Line Item

  1. Locate the line item you wish to discount
  2. Enter either a new Unit Price or Discount %
  3. Click out of the amended field and the Unit Price and Discount % will automatically re-calculate
The original Rate Card price is displayed beneath the Unit Price and Total in light Grey

Discount a Quote Section

  1. Click the section total at the top right of the section header
  2. The Apply Discount pop-up will open
  3. Enter either a New Total or Discount % for the section
  4. Click Apply and all discountable Service unit prices and totals will be updated to reflect the discount
The original Rate Card price is displayed beneath the Unit Price and Total in light Grey

Discount the Entire Quote

  1. Select Apply Discount... from the Quote menu
  2. The Apply Discount pop-up will open
  3. Enter either a New Total or Discount % for the entire Quote
  4. Click Apply and all discountable Service unit prices and totals will be updated to reflect the discount
  5. Note that the original Rate Card price is displayed beneath the Unit Price and Total in light Grey

One-Time Discount
The One-Time Discount section on a Quote gives you the option of entering a negative value which will be deducted from the overall total of the line items. This option leaves the service Unit Price and Total intact, so the client can see the original rates and a total sum of the Discount.
