Services

The Service codes you create will be used throughout the system, and getting this list right will help make navigating iCFM a lot easier. We recommend setting things up with fewer, less specific codes so that you can get used to using them. As you learn the software, you will be able to expand on the list.

Having too many makes it harder to locate the exact Service you need. Having too few, makes it difficult to get pricing right.

Each discipline, deliverable or service that your business provides will need to relate to a Service in the Rate Card, these would typically include:

  • Flame
  • 3D Animation
  • Grade
  • Editing
  • Encoding
  • Stock

Depending on the size of your business, your pricing structure, or reporting requirements, you can break your services up to record as much detail as required. For example, rather than having a single Rate Card Item for all 3D Animation, you might want to have several rates for multiple, specific 3D services. We would recommend adding a prefix to the Service Code in order for you to be able to still sort/filter by 3D, such as:

  • 3D-Modeling
  • 3D-Texturing
  • 3D-Rigging
  • 3D-Tracking
  • 3D-Animation
  • 3D-Lighting
  • 3D-Rendering

If you Quote and Schedule using more specific Services, you can generate more detailed reports. Of course, having more Services means you need to be more specific when scheduling, which can take longer. For this reason, we recommend that you start with a smaller list, and expand once you are comfortable with how Service Codes work.
