The Check Flags tool helps you understand why the status of a Job, Project, or Quote cannot be updated. If a status change is unavailable, you won’t see the status icon at all - it simply won’t appear.
By selecting Check Flags (from the toolbar or entity menu), you’ll see clear explanations of what’s preventing the change. Common reasons include:
Missing information
Pending approvals
Dependencies on other entities
Other incomplete requirements
CETA’s safeguards are designed to prevent unauthorised or premature status changes, especially on Projects. If you find you can’t update a Project, use Check Flags to identify the specific steps or permissions required.
How to Use Check Flags:
Open the entity (Job, Project, Quote, etc.) where you can’t change the status
Select the Check Flags icon in the header (or in the menu)
Review the explanation for the status you’re trying to reach
Follow the guidance - it may point you to another entity, such as a related Quote, Job, or costing row
If needed, run Check Flags on that related entity to see what must be resolved there
Once the flagged issues are cleared, return to the original entity and progress the status
