Impersonate a User

Modified on Fri, 16 Sep, 2022 at 3:44 PM

For purposes of debugging or testing, it is possible to 'impersonate' another iCFM user, for example to check that their access codes are set appropriately. This feature is only available to superusers. To impersonate a user, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in as usual (superuser account).
  2. Go to Admin Options > User Information.
  3. Perform a search to find the user you wish to impersonate.
  4. Open the user record.
  5. Click the Impersonate link in the top-right of the screen.
  6. The page will refresh and display a yellow box indicating that you are now impersonating a different user. NOTE that if the user does not have permission to view User Information, then the screen will show a permissions error.
  7. Any action performed from this point on will be exactly as if the impersonated user had done so. NOTE when saving records, created/modified user details etc will be those of the impersonated user.
  8. To stop impersonating the user at any time, click the 'STOP' button in the yellow box.
