Media Records

It is often required to output content to a drive, tape or other medium. Whenever this happens, you should create a Media record in iCFM and tag it with the relevant information. Media records can be just about anything; a USB-Key, Lacie drive, or an LTO tape for example. You are able to define a list of your own Formats and associate different Stock Types with each.

Each Media record contains information about which Project it belongs to; where it is physically located; what type of asset it is (a Master, Copy etc) as well as more technical information about how to retrieve the data it contains. Typically, the required playback hardware relates to the chosen Format.

You are able to add Media for assets you create in the building, as well as media that is provided to you by your client. Media records you create are usually billable, whereas assets your client brings in are usually not.

Once you have added a Media record, the following options will appear in the lower half of the screen:

TransactionsThe Transactions tab shows details of Media Movement on this record, including who recorded the move, any shipping or batch numbers (for internal movements). You can often trace a missing asset by tracking movement of an asset it was known to be moved with.
Edit HistoryThis records a log of which values on the Media asset have been modified (from what and to what), along with the user who made the change and the time they did so.
